WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) PCS-T

Modified on Fri, 6 Mar, 2020 at 8:56 AM

We are aware that the rules around accessibility are changing and that in September this year public sector web sites must be WCAG 2.1 compliant.  We have already raised this with the providers of PCS and PCS-Tender.   While Public Contracts Scotland is more or less compliant now (particularly as we are revamping the site at the moment),  Jaggaer (who provide PCS-T) are currently still working on this and we are waiting for an update from them on how they intend to meet the new requirements in September.

I’m afraid I can’t comment on PCOS.

I hope this answers your question, but I’m sure Barry will provide you with more information when he’s back in the office next week if needed.

Thanks

Initial query from Kirsten at GCU:

1.1 In 2018 UK legislation was published that mandated accessibility standards to be met by public sector bodies (including universities) for their web and mobile application services. This is to ensure students and members of the public with disabilities can access the services provided.

1.2 The legislation: “Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations (2018)” was accompanied by an “Accessible VLEs” briefing paper which says that specified university IT services need to be fully accessible - i.e. perceivable, operable, understandable and robust; and be demonstrated through compliance with the European standard ETSI EN 301 549 or Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. (Worksheet WCAG 2.1)
