PECOS password information

Hi,

PECOS user accounts and the password controls for each organization are managed directly through the PECOS administration module by PECOS administrators. It is recommended that each organization review the options for password settings, and set up their password rules according to their security guidelines. A password is created and assigned to a user when a new user profile is created by the administrator and changed when an existing user has their password reset. Passwords for each user are encrypted in the PECOS database and therefore cannot be accessed by any other user or system administrator. When system assigned passwords are used, PECOS will automatically generate a user password using random numbers and letters. Upon initial set up and subsequent resets, the user will be sent their new password via email (using the email address contained on the user profile), but will not be allowed to log in with this password. The user will instead be forced to change their password when they first login.

PECOS does not currently utilize multi factor authentication or an authentication provider to secure the login process.

Please let us know if there is further information that we can provide, and also you can refer to the PECOS administrators guide, password rules under organization maintenance for more information regarding password rules and options supported by PECOS.

Thanks,
Graeme
